I am currently evaluating Windows 2000 with terminal services. I run software on client PC's that capture data from the COM ports (for example weighing scales). I have enabled COM port mapping in RDP-TCP properties and can now see the extra ports in Printer Config; however, I can't seem to use them from my application that supports COM1 or COM2. I have searched Technet to no avail, what am I doing wrong?

The RDP protocol version that comes with Windows 2000 does not support COM port redirection. The updated protocol that will ship with Whistler does; however, you'll be waiting a while to get it. In the meantime, the only alternative that I know of is to run Metaframe from Citrix (www.citrix.com). If anyone knows of a COM port remapper that works with Terminal Services, please let me know and I'll test it in the lab and report in this forum.
