Can I block the ICMP requests from a Windows 2000 Professional system?
Use the Local Security Policy MMC snap-in from Administrative tools. Windows 2000 has a built-in IP filter list that looks for "All ICMP traffic" – you can use this as the basis for an IPSec filter rule that will block incoming and/or outgoing traffic of this type. See KB Article 313190 for a detailed walk-through of the necessary steps.
