Can I do an offline PDC upgrade?

Regarding your previous tip, First things first with upgrades, I am planning to perform an in-place upgrade to AD, but the NT domain will be upgraded to the AD child domain. In my situation, can I do an offline PDC upgrade as the tip said?

An offline upgrade can only be performed if the current PDC is configured as the head of the planned child domain. If you are going to re-arrange or re-configure your domain infrastructure, you can't perform a direct quick upgrade. You'll have to use the migration tools to store your user configuration info, then upgrade to 2000, demote to member server, then re-promote to a DC with the correct domain configuration, then re-import your config info (which may not work since the domain config will have changed).
