Q

Can I rename the server when it's the only domain controller in the domain?

I've got a single domain controller that was not named properly (name too long) and is causing errors. Under DNS server, I have Event IDs 409 and 414. From what I see, I need to rename the server, but it's the only DC in the domain. Is there a way to correct this without rebuilding the server? I have other servers but I haven't been able to promote them due to the DNS name issues.
Please see the instructions in How to rename a Windows 2000 domain controller.
