Q

Can SMS inventory be leveraged in creating group policies?

Can SMS inventory be leveraged in creating a group policy? For example, I'd like to enforce 'X' settings against all devices that have 'Y' s/w loaded or 'Z' services running.
Sort of. Indeed, you cannot use SMS inventory for this purpose, but if you can write a WMI filter that can test for the presence of all computers that have, say, a specific DLL from some software, you're essentially doing the same thing. WMI filters aren't for the faint of heart, but since you're already using SMS, you might have a leg up in your WQL syntax knowledge.
