The most in-demand certifications right now have to be the upper-level Cisco certifications (CCNP and CCIE) and any of a number of security certifications (especially SANS GSEC and SANS LevelTwo, CISSP, and the newly-minted ICSA certifications--see my tip on the "Security Certification Landscape" in the searchSecurity.com Tips section for pointers to all of these programs. In addition, if you are interested in ERP (SAP/R3, JD Edwards, Baan, etc.) those certs are pretty "hot" (but also pretty darned expensive; $10K+ is normal) right now.
