Cleaning up leftovers after removing a user from XP

This is an XP issue. Hope you can help. After creating, and then removing a user, I cannot clean up the leftovers. For example, logged in as a user with administrative rights, I cannot remove the My Documents folder located under the old user's "home directory." As well, certain applications that were installed as this user cannot be removed, because the folder cannot be deleted.

Use the administrator account to take ownership of the items you have problems removing. Then you should have sufficient access to remove them. Keep in mind that there may be areas in the registry associated with the installed programs that you'll need to take ownership of as well to complete the removal.
