Q

Computer no longer shuts off automatically

I upgraded my IBM Intellistation Z Pro from NT 4.0 to Windows 2000 Pro and have encountered a shutdown problem. Prior to the upgrade I could shut down my PC normally without manually turning off the computer. Now at the end of the shut down it pops up a screen saying, "It is now safe to turn off the computer". At this stage I have to press the power button in order to turn off the computer. Is there any way to correct this problem? Thank you so much for your assistance.
This is a common problem that is easily resolved. First, open the Control Panel, choose the Power Options, click the tab marked APM and make sure the "Enable Advanced Power Management Support" checkbox is enabled. If this doesn't resolve the issue, check the advanced power management settings in your system BIOS.
