Q

Does DCPROMO affect access to shares on a file server?

I want to demote a domain controller (DC) using DCPROMO. Will the DCPROMO affect access to shares on this "file" server?

I want to demote a domain controller (DC) using DCPROMO. It is not the global catalog server or the last DC, but it contains files and shares. Will the DCPROMO affect access to shares on this "file" server?
The only share that it will affect is the SYSVOL share that is used from AD schema replication. Now, if you remove the system from the domain completely, the security on the shares may be affected -- but based on what you said that does not seem to be what you are planning.
