Does Windows 2000 Pro support the 64-bit processor?

I want to buy the new AMD Athlon 64-bit processor and use it with Windows Professional 2000. Does this version of Windows support the 64-bit processor?
No it does not. You'll need the 64-bit version of Windows XP or Longhorn when it is released. A preview of the Windows XP 64-bit edition is available at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/evaluation/upgrade.mspx. A 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003 is scheduled for the end of this year.
