Hiding icons on taskbar

This Content Component encountered an error

I want the program to run at startup but how can I hide the startup icons (far right corner) on the taskbar such as eFax, RealPlayer, etc.? Is there somewhere in the registry where this can be done.

There are a few keys buried in the Registry that execute programs upon login or startup. Here is a Microsoft article that describes it in detail:
