How can I do a comprehensive search that includes documents as well as e-mail?

The indexing service of Win2k is supposed to index my mail as well. I use MS Outlook. When I query the catalog from the Computer Management MMS Snap-In, the search results contain the files all right, but I see no mail items. How can I do a comprehensive search that includes documents as well as e-mail?

I'm not sure where you got your information about the Content Indexer also indexing e-mail. Your e-mail messages reside in a PST file. The content indexer does not index the contents of this PST file, and even if it did, it would not have a way of correlating a particular word with an e-mail message. That can only be done by Outlook. You can search for text in messages within Outlook using the Advanced Find option from the flyout menu when you right-click your inbox or another folder.
