Q

How can I find out what's causing my server to crash?

Is there a utility that can tell me what process or application is causing my server to crash at the same time every morning? The Event Viewer doesn't give much insight into this problem.
The best first step here would be to find out if there's a scheduled task that you are running at that time; if there is, the app being run at that time is probably the culprit. Analyze the crash dump message to see if a particular DLL or driver is at fault -- for instance, if you're running an automated backup utility of some kind, that may need to be upgraded or repaired.
