How can I force AD Users and Computers to open another DC?

When opening Active Directory Users and Computers, it defaults to the correct domain but opens to a domain controller at a distant site. I want to choose which domain controller it attaches to and be able to save the setting, so it will be the same domain controller every time I open the tool.

  1. Click Start -> Run -> MMC.
  2. Click Console -> Add Remove Snap-ins.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Select the Active Directory Users and Computers.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Right-click on the domain name.
  7. Click "Connect to Domain Controller..."
  8. Select the domain controller you would like it to connect to.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click on Console and click Save As.
  11. Select a name and paste the shortcut on your desktop or wherever.
