Q

How can I get app windows to remember their size and position?

I wanted all my desktop folders to open up having the same window size. After opening each one and resizing all of them, insuring they are all the same sizes, they still open up with their previous size (i.e., not the size I set up). I already made sure that "remember folder setting" for each folder is checked, and I've tried folder/options/apply to all folders, but it still won't do it. This is especially true with the Recycle Bin and the My Network Places folders. All my desktops and laptops exhibit this unusual behavior except for one laptop. Any clues? Thank you.
The habit of Windows Explorer forgetting where I put its windows is annoying. I too get tired of repositioning windows once I've settled on a place for them on my desktop. Windows XP doesn't have a feature hidden or otherwise that's going to help you, though. There are shareware utilities that place windows in certain positions, though. I suggest that you search your favorite shareware Web site for these utilities.
