How do you configure Windows to allow DOS apps to run with many files open?

How do you configure Windows 2000 and XP to allow DOS apps to run with many files open? Or where do we set the "files=200" that we use to set in the config.sys before? And how do can we configure the mouse to work with DOS apps inside the window? The mouse will work with the DOS app if the DOS app is running full screen.

Create a shortcut to the DOS executable, then open the properties of that shortcut. Then on the Program tab, click Advanced and define the pathname to your custom CONFIG file. There are lots of other controls in this dialog box too.
