Q

How will the promotion of a Win2k server to domain controller affect an existing NT4 PDC?

I have an NT4 PDC (primary domain controller) with several standalone Windows 2000 servers. Is it possible to promote one of the Win2000 servers to be a domain controller, and how will this affect the existing NT4 PDC?
No. You cannot promote one of the member servers to be the PDC. You will need to upgrade the PDC to Windows 2000/AD prior to doing that.
