When I unplug and plug-in a USB mass storage device, an error code 10 appears and the device does not work. The driver needs to be reinstalled, every time I plug-in this device to make it work. Could you help solve this problem? The system is Windows 2000 Professional.
It sounds like a vendor specific issue with a not-quite fully PnP compatible driver. Contact the vendor and inquire. A new or updated driver may be available. You may also need to disable the device before removing it, so the next time it is re-connected the driver will need to be re-enabled manually to get it going - that is sometimes a workaround.
