Q

Passing variables to WinXP from WinNT

We have a client with an NT 4.0 domain and predominantly Windows 98 clients. We have used a little utility called Putinenv to pass NT variables to the Windows 98 workstations for logon script processing. Now Windows XP workstations are about to be rolled out. We should be able to pass environmental variables directly to WinXP from WinNT, should we not? Any caveats?
Yes, the behavior should be almost exactly the same. The best thing to do is to set up one typical XP workstation using PUTINENV and see if the behavior is still the same. Odds are it should be.
