I have a NT 4.0 server backing up to a tape drive on a Win2k server using the backup program included with Win2k. All the drives on the NT server are mapped to the Win2k server. The backup completes normally, but every time the backup program begins to copy a drive on the NT server, the following message is generated: "The server received an incorrectly formatted request from the Win2k server. Event ID: 2006, SMB."
Your Windows NT system may not be using SP6a or there is a post-SP6a hotfix your NT system needs. Depending on what backup software you are using, you may need to install an agent on the NT system.
