Some pragmatic questions about the MCP

I'm interested in doing a MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) examination, but I have some questions about it.
  1. Can I take a laptop to the exam?
  2. Can I have the access to the Internet?
  3. Is it an open-book exam?
  4. How long is the examination?

You might want to read about MCP exams on the Microsoft Web site to get more fully grounded in requirements and rules that pertain to them. In general, the answers to the first three items are "No" and the fourth item is usually "90 minutes," though this does vary from exam to exam.

The exam overview page contains pointers to various pages that describe how to search for, prepare for and register for an MCP exam, while the FAQs address the various questions you raise in items 1-3 above and much more. The only exceptions I'm aware of pertain to individuals with learning, reading or other behavioral disorders that require them to have access to extra equipment, time and information to complete exams. Such arrangements require approval of a written appeal and must generally be substantiated by a letter from one's doctor or a licensed treatment professional that explains your condition and the reasons why extraordinary support is needed to enable you to complete the exam.

Check out the MS exam information, and you'll find all the information you need. Good luck on your exams.
