Q

Unable to browse Win2k Pro workgroup

I have Win2k Professional, and we are using a workgroup. I am unable to browse my workgroup, but I can use net command to list servers and connect to shares. Any thoughts?

Several possibilities:

  1. The network browser service may not have properly elected a master browser.
  2. The NetBIOS over TCP/IP may be disabled on your system or on other systems.
  3. The workgroup may be typed into one system using all lowercase letters while using all or some uppercase letters onto another.
  4. You mayb be using a switched hub or some other device that is filtering NetBIOS traffic.
