Q

Unable to browse Win2k network resources from Win98 machine

I recently installed Windows 2000 Advanced Server on a new machine and I'm trying to log in with a Windows 98 machine. I have tried all of the variations but I get "unable to browse..." in Network Neighborhood. I can ping both machines successfully from each other. The Win2k machine is a domain controller; I have set up AD, DHCP, WINS, DNS, etc. Is there any documentation available on setup steps and network settings for a Windows 98 client?
If you can ping the server from your client but are unable to browse resources, it is most likely a name resolution problem. Windows 98 uses NetBIOS name resolution, so make sure that your Win98 client configuration is pointing to the appropriate WINS address under the TCP/IP properties sheet.
