Q

Where can I find info about Win2000 (AD) WAN traffic compared to NT4 WAN traffic?

We have a frame-relay network connecting 10 sites. CIR (committed information rate) is 128KB maximum. We want to upgrade from NT4; each site has a BDC (backup domain controller). Where can I find info about Windows 2000 (AD) WAN traffic compared to NT4 WAN traffic, best practices, etc.?
You can start with a couple of Microsoft KB articles:
  • Directory replication basics for Windows 2000 (Q199174)
  • FSMO placement and optimization on Windows 2000 domain controllers (Q223346)

Also the Windows 2000 resource kit distributed system guide and the Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory design books offer more information on the topic.
