Why am I getting the "endpoint mapper" error message?

I am trying to set up a new PC on my domain. When I change from workgroup to domain and when I enter my domain and my user ID and password it does not connect. It says "There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper." Do you know why this is happening?
This is everyone's favorite error message, and almost always boils down to a name resolution issue. Be sure that you have DNS and/or WINS properly configured on your domain controllers and the new client, and be sure that there are no conflicting or out-of-date resource records.
