Q

Will Server 2k work as a client to the Alpha system running NT 4.0 Workstation?

A company I work for wants to migrate from an Alpha server running NT 4.0 workstation. They want to purchase 50 licenses for Server 2k. The question I have is will Server 2k work as a client to the Alpha system running NT 4.0 Workstation? We want to start migrating soon and eventually eliminate the Alpha system. Also will Server 2k work seamlessly with older Win 98 PCs throughout the network?
Windows 2000 Server (as well as Windows 2003 Server) can create an Active Directory domain network that any client can access, with different levels of capability and functionality. Windows 2000 Professional, XP Pro, and NT 4.0 Workstation have the greatest client-domain capabilities, with 9x less so, and even less non-Microsoft OSes.

I don't know what you mean by "will Server 2k work as a client to the Alpha system", since the Windows 2000 Server will be a server and the Alpha system seems to be a workstation or client.
