Q

Will hosts always retain their host IDs within subnetworks?

If a network is divided into subnetworks, will hosts always retain their same host ID?
Hosts in the same subnet must share the same network ID. Each host within a subnet must have a unique host ID within that subnet. It is possible to duplicate host IDs in different subnets. Depending on how you impose the network division, you may be able to retain the original host IDs, but it is not necessary.
