Win2k/XP domain cannot browse and only shows a few machines on domain

My Windows 2000/XP domain cannot browse the Web and it only shows a small group of computers on the domain. Active Directory and WINS are both running.

I can always search for a computer name, but My Network Places is useless. What could be the solution?

There are a number of issues that can cause this, one of which is a Group Policy setting for Windows Explorer in the "User ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsWindows Explorer" settings.

It's also possible that a browser election has taken place on your network, and some other server or workstation is the current master browser or backup browser. For a detailed explanation of the browser service see How computer browser service works.
