QUESTION POSED ON: 19 December 2003
I have a Web-based app that works well on Windows 2000 SP3 after installing SP4 on top of SP3. However, if I install a fresh Windows 2000 SP4, I keep getting the script error: "object doesnt support this property or method". I have Internet Explorer SP1, this script error appears sometimes on Windows XP machines.

I don't have much information to go on, so the most I can say definitively is that "something is missing". Unfortunately, the app (or the ASP engine) isn't giving you a very useful error message, so I can understand your frustration.

A good place to start troubleshooting this type of error is to carefully examine what the app is trying to do when the error condition occurs. I like Filemon, Regmon, and Process Explorer, available from sysinternals.com: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/utilities.shtml.
