How to connect a server to an SUS server through a firewall |

QUESTION POSED ON: 08 January 2004
I need to make the servers on one side of a firewall find an SUS server on the other side using a port other than 80. I have tried switching IIS on the SUS server to port 8081 but I can't get the server(clients) to see it. I set the clients to use http://SUSserver:8081. The firewall admins openned port 8081 only so I could test it. Any thoughts on how to make this work?

SUS currently requires port 80 access to work correctly. One thing you might want to consider is creating a DMZ so SUS is on the internet and internal clients can still connect to the box. Port modification is one of the items that has been requested for the next version of SUS (2.0).
