QUESTION POSED ON: 17 December 2003
On our user workstations, every couple of hours we get an App Log entry for Userenv, Event 1000, User System, which reads: "Windows cannot access the registry information at domain.netsysvoldomain.netPolicies{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}Machineregistry.pol with (5)."
This error is strange in that the user can access the policy file directly, so this appears to be a problem just on startup. I have tried to chase this down but to no avail. The most prevalent reference is to DNS but we have no DNS issues that I can find.
