QUESTION POSED ON: 07 April 2005
Whenever I try to install ADSL my computer shuts down several times and gives the following message: "Windows has made a protection mistake. Restart your computer." This happens each time I start the computer. I'm using Windows ME. My hard drive was already reformatted twice since, but it hasn't helped. What's wrong?

It sounds like either the software or a device driver that is installed as part of your ADSL setup may be causing a conflict. Without more specific information, it's hard to follow up. I would try uninstalling the software to see if it resolves the issue, and then follow up with your DSL provider's tech support to troubleshoot it further.
