QUESTION POSED ON: 12 September 2005 I would like to automatically execute a batch file during logout in Windows XP. On launch, I can easily put a shortcut into the startup folder, yet I don't think there's any such mechanism for logout situations (well it's not easy to find!). If possible, I would like to find a way of doing this without utilizing any third-party tools.

Use Group Policy to run a script at logoff; there's a thread here that discusses how to do that in some detail. Group Policy is generally the best way to handle "automatic" actions like this without having to resort to third-party tools of some kind, and it'll work no matter what the other person's computer or where it is, so long as they're joined to the domain.
