QUESTION POSED ON: 06 December 2005
I was told there is a Group Policy add-in to manage hardware profiles. I want a top-down way to enable or disable certain hardware in certain profiles. My platform is Windows XP Pro. Can you help?

You might be interested in a program called PolicyMaker. One of the features PolicyMaker sports right out of the box is the ability to enable or disable specific pieces of hardware through a profile. A given device can be enabled or disabled for a particular user or computer; this also includes things like removable disks or USB "keychain" drives. The program comes in several editions, each sized for various needs depending on how big your organization is or what other needs you might have through Group Policy.
