QUESTION POSED ON: 21 November 2005
What are the specific scenarios to test when migrating from Windows NT to Windows 2003 Active Directory? It is a mission-critical application (three-tier) and I am supposed to test the migration part as a QA tester. I would really appreciate if I could get a sample comprehensive test plan and a few test cases based on those scenarios.

A good place to start will be Tools and Documentation for Upgrading to Windows Server 2003, which will provide you with numerous articles and how-to guides for performing an NT4-to-2003 upgrade. You should also test the specific functionality of your application within a Windows Server 2003 test environment to make sure that it still functions correctly, as well as simulating the upgrade process with a copy of your production data if at all possible.
