Iolo's Search and Recover 5 is a data restore tool designed for the recovery of accidentally deleted data – even years after it has been lost.
Using techniques that check drives and devices at the sector level, Search and Recover, from Iolo Technologies LLC, is made to recover data even if you have a formatted, repartitioned or damaged drive. It gives administrators the ability to recover messages from email programs such as Mozilla Thunderbird and Microsoft Outlook (allowing Outlook users to even salvage deleted contacts and calendars tasks.)
You can also use the software as a disaster recovery technique by making mirror copies of drives before data loss occurs, preserving it by backing up all files, rather than just those that are visible.
Search and Recover 5 has several new features and improvements over previous versions, including:
- Improved recovery algorithms, designed to rescue more lost files than before.
- Expanded file-type and media support for more efficient recovery of specific file types.
- A new interface that gives users more control over the recovery process.
Search and Recover 5 also includes a feature called the File Terminator, which permanently terminates existing files and documents or previously deleted data so that it can never be retrieved again — even by Search and Recover itself.

System requirements: Windows 2000, XP or Vista. CD or DVD drive (for installation CD only) with 10 MB of available hard disk space. At least 128 MB of RAM, installations of Windows Media Player 6.4 or later and Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 2 or later.
