EventSentry, from Netikus.net Ltd., is a real-time monitoring tool that watches over network servers, workstations and devices to ensure maximum availability. It also tracks compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), HIPAA and other regulation requirements.
With EventSentry, administrators can consolidate and monitor event logs and log files in real time. It can also be used to monitor performance, disk space, services, processes and software or hardware installations on servers and workstations. Additional features include NTP synchronization, temperature and humidity monitoring, as well as motion, smoke and water detection.
The release of version 2.90 adds native support for Windows Server 2008 and Vista. It also has an improved open source Web reporting interface and enhanced stability and functionality.
Other features new to version 2.90 include:
- Granular access control for Web reports -- Access to the Web reporting of EventSentry can now be restricted based on user and group accounts. Access can be granted or restricted down to the page or computer level. This feature is designed to ensure that only authorized information is displayed to the user.
- Compliance tracking -- The existing process, console logon and print tracking features have been extended, and EventSentry now tracks file access activity, account management activity, policy change events and both successful and failed network logons.
- Enterprise time verification -- It can verify and sync the local time with NTP servers, and it logs the current uptime of a host to the database in a specified time interval.
