GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP 10
Spam-fighting capabilities, e-mail administration extras, pricing and service and support helped GFI's MailEssentials earn the Gold Award in TechTarget's Windows Products of the Year for messaging.
MailEssentials is made by GFI Software Ltd., a company that has been developing products for Exchange Server since 1994. Judges gave the most recent version of the product top marks for ease of use and integration because of its simplicity to install and configure for Exchange 2000 and 2003. And it installs on the Exchange SMTP services without any gateway configuration requirements, so it works for Exchange 5.5 and Lotus Notes as well.
Judges also praised MailEssentials for functionality, particularly in public folder enhancements in version 10. For example, end users can now whitelist or blacklist senders by simply dragging and dropping e-mails to specified public folders. Administrators are thus relieved of middle-man status, yet still maintain ultimate control of folders through continued back-end management of their security settings.
And by making it easier to identify spam and ham (good e-mail) through the use of these public folder assignments, GFI MailEssentials continually improves its own spam-detection capabilities. The product's Bayesian engine regularly analyzes mail in the whitelist and blacklist public folders and automatically adjusts its detection and filtering methodology accordingly.
Mail management functionalities such as archiving to SQL Server, monitoring, reporting, disclaimers, POP3 downloading and listserv capabilities offer additional benefits.
Pricing: Several pricing plans are available, starting at $250 for 10 mailboxes to $1,250 for unlimited mailboxes. All plans include three months of free support and upgrade protection and one year of antispam updates. A bundled purchase of GFI MailSecurity and GFI MailEssentials offers additional savings.
