EDRAM

Show me everything on Computer Hardware Memory Management for Windows

DEFINITION - EDRAM (enhanced dynamic random access memory) is dynamic random access memory (dynamic or power-refreshed RAM) that includes a small amount of static RAM (SRAM) inside a larger amount of DRAM so that many memory accesses will be to the faster SRAM. EDRAM is sometimes used as L1 and L2 memory and, together with Enhanced Synchronous Dynamic DRAM, is known as cached DRAM.

Data that has been loaded into the SRAM part of the EDRAM can be accessed by the microprocessor in 15 ns (nanoseconds). If data is not in the SRAM, it can be accessed in 35 ns from the DRAM part of the EDRAM.

Use Microsoft's Windows Memory Diagnostic to test for bad computer memory: Bad memory is one of the main reasons for random system failures. Microsoft now offers its own tool to test for memory problems.
A guide to troubleshooting computer memory problems: This guide will show you how to diagnose and prevent computer memory problems.
How to detect a memory leak in Microsoft Windows: Learn how to detect a memory leak in Microsoft Windows.
Simple tools and techniques for finding Windows memory leaks: Symptoms of a memory leak can show up long before a server fails. Check out these tips for catching a leak early and plugging it up.
Virtualization and 64-bit: A match made in Windows heaven: Christa Anderson explains why the implementation of 64-bit operating systems and virtualization should go hand in hand.
Give your system memory a boost with x64: It's no secret that memory for 32-bit systems has its limitations. By upgrading to x64 processor architectures, IT pros can access more memory while executing the same app codes.
ECC memory: A must for servers, not for desktop PCs: Error correcting code (ECC) memory is system memory that supports advanced error correction. It's good to have for servers and precision workstations, but not commodity desktops.
