With the number of users who are using offline file synchronization to take work on the road with them, we have run into instances where the cache for offline files becomes corrupted, causing users to lose updates they made to files while working offline.

A good way to recover corrupted files is by using a file viewer, such as Quick View Plus (editor's note: from Avanstar, Inc.), which allows you to easily view files that are in the offline file cache. These are located in a hidden folder found at C:WINDOWSCSC.

Using this software, we have been able to recover over two weeks of work off of a laptop that had a corrupted file cache. Although the files are not named what they were originally, Quick View Plus allows you to do a "save as..." so that you can rename the files to something more appropriate.
