The following setting will rearrange files on the hard drive when the computer is idle, thereby improving the performance of the system.
- Open your registry and find or create the key listed at the bottom of this tip.
- Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called "EnableAutoLayout." Set it according to the value data below.
- Exit your registry. You may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.
