Users often load Web pages from the hard disk to increase the browsing speed. One problem with this is the possibility of missing fresh content added on that particular Web site. With Internet Explorer 6 you can customize how often you want to check the Web for updated content. These simple steps guide you through the process:

  1. Open Internet Explorer 6

  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options and open the General tab.

  3. On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Settings button, which opens the Settings window.

  4. In the Settings window you will see that there are four different ways to check for newer versions of pages that are stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder:

  • Every visit to the page: Selecting this option assures you of the most current content, but it's slower to browse previously viewed pages.

  • Every time you start Internet Explorer 6: This option makes Internet Explorer 6 to check for new information on your first visit to page, but not on subsequent visits in the same browsing session.

  • Automatically: Any new content added will be automatically checked by Internet Explorer.

  • Never: With this option selected, you would need to press F5 to connect to the page on the Web and download new information to the Temporary Internet Files folder. This is the fastest of all four options.

You may use any of these four options as you see fit. Always make sure that you always get the latest information from Web sites you are visiting.
