Enable the Permissions tab in XP Professional

To give permissions for a folder share to a particular group of users in XP, you must change the default settings.

In Windows XP, the Permissions tab is disabled by default. Therefore, giving permissions for a folder share to

a particular group of users is not possible with default settings.

To enable Permissions in XP, do the following:

  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Tools-Folder Options- View
  3. In Advanced Settings, disable the checkbox USE SIMPLE SHARING(Recommended).
  4. Apply the settings.

The permissions will now be displayed in the Security tab.
