In Windows XP, the Permissions tab is disabled by default. Therefore, giving permissions for a folder share to a particular group of users is not possible with default settings.
To enable Permissions in XP, do the following:
- Open My Computer.
- Tools-Folder Options- View
- In Advanced Settings, disable the checkbox USE SIMPLE SHARING(Recommended).
- Apply the settings.
The permissions will now be displayed in the Security tab.
