In Windows XP, the Permissions tab is disabled by default. Therefore, giving permissions for a folder share to a particular group of users is not possible with default settings.

To enable Permissions in XP, do the following:

  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Tools-Folder Options-

    Requires Free Membership to View

  2. In Advanced Settings, disable the checkbox USE SIMPLE SHARING(Recommended).
  3. Apply the settings.
