Proper use of the DLC protocol to connect a printer

It is possible to use the DLC protocol to quickly connect a printer to your network. When you install the printer to 2 or more systems, however, only the most recent system added will be able to print to it. Other systems will display an error due to a bad default configuration of the port utilized by said printer.

You must make sure that the timer option is set to "process based" and not to "continue." In the "continue" mode, the last system added will assume full control of the printer. Selecting the "process based" mode will allow all of the systems on your network to utilize the same printer.
