Do you deploy MSI through GPOs and want to restrict users from installing and removing applications themselves? Here's how:
Deploying MSI through GPOs requires users and computers to have elevated permissions in order to install software. Users can then double-click any MSI and install applications.
The solution is to change permissions on the files "msiexec.exe" and "appwiz.cpl":
- R for authenticated users
- R for Everyone
- R for Local users
- "RunAs" works on "appwiz.cpl"
The permissions for authenticated users can be set through GPOs, the permissions for local users
will have to set on a local workstation.
