The amazing expandable boot partition
A Windows 2000 system that has empty, unallocated space next to the boot partition can have its boot partition resized non-destructively
Once you've backed up any critical data and broken any software mirroring you have on the boot partition, do the following:
Run SETUP.EXE on the Windows 2000 CD-ROM (from within Windows 2000 itself) and start an in-place upgrade.
Don't reboot after file copying is finished. Exit SETUP.EXE.
Open the file C:$WIN_NT$.~BTWINNT.SIF in Notepad.
Add the value ExtendOemPartition=1 in the [Unattended] section.
- Reboot and let the upgrade continue.
