After upgrading workstations from NT 4.0 to Windows XP Professional, I was not able to see the NT 4.0 server anymore. I checked all the usual suspects: IP addresses, WINS, DNS, etc.
It turns out the problem was NetBEUI. It is not available in the normal configuration. It is on
the retail windows XP CD under the ValueAdd folder. Follow 330994 and 301041 to set it up, and the
server magically appears.
