An introduction to server consolidation

About the White Paper:
At the time of its introduction, Microsoft Windows was seen mainly as a graphically centered environment for standalone applications on personal computers. As Windows has evolved over the past decade its capabilities have expanded to support increasingly complex applications. Windows NT and Windows 2000 include an increasingly rich set of application services that can be used to build and customize distributed applications. However, many organizations are now discovering that their infrastructure has not developed at the same rate as the technology. Typical problems include uncontrolled growth in the number of servers, relatively high system management costs and poor availability of operational systems. All of these problems, however, have solutions. |
