Can I run Exchange 2003 without Active Directory?

Currently our organization is running Exchange 5.5. Our Network consists of Microsoft, Novell, Unix and Linux servers. Is there any way to run Exchange 2003 without using Active Directory?
No. Microsoft Active Directory is a hard-coded requirement for Exchange Server 2003.
