Changing hardware without losing Exchange or AD data

I have one machine with the Active Directory and Exchange server both installed on it. I need to completely change the hardware. What is the best way to do this without loss in the Active Directory database or in Exchange server mailboxes?
The best (and almost only way) would be to bring up a new Active Directory domain controller on the new hardware, and integrate it into your domain. Next, you'll need to install Exchange on it and move all of the data to this new server. If you are using Exchange 2000, you can follow the instructions in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 297289, XADM: How to Move Exchange 2000 to New Hardware and Keep the Same Server Name. This article includes details about what to do if the Exchange server is also a domain controller. Be sure to have a complete, full backup prior to proceeding.
